SYSTEM No.3

"HIDDEN FORM SYSTEM"

It is a well known fact that horses who finished first or second last time out win 40% of all races decided. This means however, that still leaves 60% winning races without the good form of a win or a second at their last start.
What this system tries to do is trap some of these horses as many get up at good prices. How many times do we hear it said in racing circles:"I backed that horse last time out and now it has got up on me at a good price." A number of these horses could be backed on form if their last start was ignored and reference made to a race a little farther back in yhe form book. What causes these horses to be a good price is the idea, based on their most recent form, that they may have gone off. This may be true but, on the other hand, there are several other factors which may have caused the defeat other than deterioration. There is unsuitable going,an unsuitable course, bad jockeyship' harsh handicapping or the horse may have suffered from temperament or interference. This method relies on the thought that one of these factors has caused the trouble, while it guards, as much as possible, against the chance of the horse having gone off.
The first requisite is to form a list of horses who win a race by three or more lengths. These horses are the most reliable basis for any system. When any horse on this list is down to run he is backed provided he fulfills the following conditions:
(1) He must NOT have been first or second at their last start.
(2) He must have been first and second or second and first or first and first or second and second at his two previous starts.
It will be seen that such sets of form figures as these are required for the horse's three last races:-
200,203,110,220,010,120,100,210,020,310,320,etc,etc.
Thus' apart from the basic necessity of having won a race by three lengths or more, the horse will have respecetable form lately, if not last time out.We rely on the not-so-good race last time out to provide us with the good price. This method aims at the ideal of missing them when they lose and backing them when they win. In this it has achieved considerable success, providing the testing of the likely plays is made with judgement.

SYSTEM No.2

THE MERIT SYSTEM

MAXIMUM OF FOUR BETS PER MEETING.

Rule A.

Race No.1 Priority

Start from the 3rd paper poll favourite, which could include equal 2nd poll favourites or equal 3rd poll favourites.
Choose the first one mentioned from the 3rd line up to and including the poll favourite which has been selected at least once for 1st 2nd & 3rd by the various tipsters. It can receive more than one vote for each position.
This horse must be $3.50 or longer in the prepost market. If it is less, move up to the 2nd poll favourite, and if it is selected for all three positions as above and is $3.50 or better it becomes the selection, if it does not then move onto the poll favourite.
If it is mentioned right across poll panel and its prepost price is $3.50 or better it is the selection. After all this there may not be a selection listed to start at $3.50, so the final selection is the third poll favourite.

EQUALS.

In any of the above examples where there are equal candidates qualifying , such as equal points, and right across, preference goes to the shortest price at $3.50 or better in the prepost.
Still equal, preference goes to highest weight, then the best last start last start form figure, then most recent starter and finally to break the tie, the lowest barrier, such as 1 before 2, etc.

Rule B.

Race No.2 Priority
PREPOST

The selection is the horse quoted in the prepost to start at a minimum of $4.00 or the first price shown above this price, if no $4.00.
When we find two or more horses in the prepost all on same qualifying price preference is made :- To the one in the qualifying price that has received the least number of win tips in the paper poll.
E.G. The one with one win tip gets the vote over any that have two or more win tips or no win tips in the paper poll . Still a tie, then preference goes to the highest weighted, then where necessary to break a tie, the best last start form, then the most recent starter, then the best barrier.

Rule No.3

Any Race.
CLEAR SECOND POLL FAVOURITE.

Clear 2nd poll favourite with more win tips than the clear poll favourite.
This rule is simplicity in its self.
After a selection has been made in race 1 and 2, the next chore is to see if any of the remaining races on the programme show a 2nd poll favourite with more win tips than the poll favourite.
The selection is the second poll favourite, and as such becomes a priority selection . We can make two selections if available here. If equal poll favourites or equal 2nd poll favourites, then this rule naturally does not operate.
As we only require FOUR BETS PER MEETING we may now have our four selections. If not, we move onto the second stage of the selection process.

STAGE TWO.

Rule No.4

In any race outside of races 1 and 2, or where we have one selection under rule 3, we note if there is a race with equal poll favourites. If so, of these two or three equal poll favourites, we select the one shown in the prepost at a price of $4.00 or if none at this price, the first price you come to at longer odds.
As an example, we have a race with three equal poll favourites, say Sunline, Northerly and Defier.
In the prepost market there is another horse at $4.00, then comes Defier $4.50, Northerly $5.00 and Sunline $8.00.
Our selection would be Defier.
When we find that our equal poll favourites are also the same price in the prepost we seperate as follows:-
Preference goes firstly to the highest weighted, then if still a tie, the best last form, then the most recent starter, and lastly, should it be necessary, the best barrier number.
We might still be short of four selections, so we move onto the next rule.

Rule No.5

In any race except either 1 or 2, and any other racewhere we already have a selection under Rule C or D, we examine the poll points in these remaining races and mark down that race which has the poll favourite with the most points of all the poll favourites where we have no prior selection.
If it is listed in the prepost to start at odds of Even Money or Better, it is the selection.
If there are two eligible races or more and they have the poll favourite with equal top points and both are quoted in the prepost at $2.00 or better, if we need two selections to make up the daily four bets, both can be used.
If we already have three selections and we only need one more, then use the first one you come to in race order.
E.G. Four before five.
If the poll favourite or poll favourites are discarded because of being listed in the prepost at ODDS ON, test the poll favourite with the most poll points lower than the one just eliminated. The same rules apply here, to price and priority when two qualifiers.
Keep testing all the poll favourites, descending the poll points ladder until you find one which is shown in the prepost market at $2.00 or better.
Note here, that if there is only one qualifying poll favourite, that completes the selection under this rule.
Two are accepted if they have equal points in the poll, and neither is odds on, if we need two selections.
But if there is an eligible poll favourite with say 23 points, then we would not make a selection of a poll favourite withh less than 23 points.

Rule No.6

SAVER SECTION.
This is confined to the last race on the card. It is used when you have only three selections so far for the meeting.
In the last race the selection is the favourite in the prepost or equal favourite which is not the poll favourite. If two horses qualifying in the prepost, preference goes to the one with the least points in the poll.
Still equal, use the normal separation rules, highest weight, best last start finishing position, most recent starter or best barrier position.
If the prepost favourite and the poll favourite are one and the same, and we still require one final selection to make up the total of four, use this horse.

SYSTEM No.1

Examine the prepost market.
Delete all the horses quoted at $4.50 or less.
Then starting from the $5.00 odds in the prepost the selection is the first runner you come to which was either a winner at its second last start, or 2nd,3rd,4th, or 5th at the latest start.
Make $13.00 the ceiling price. If no selection between $5.00 and $13.00 both inclusive, then skip the race.
